How does CarCare To Go Work?

CarCare To Go provides car maintenance and repair in three easy steps: 1. Schedule your appointment online. 2. A valet picks up your vehicle and brings it in for service. 3. After the work is done a valet returns the vehicle to you. The valet is always free and every appointment includes a free safety inspection and light hand clean. It’s as easy as ordering groceries online. You can find more detail here.

Why do oil changes matter?

Changing your oil a is one of the most important things you can do to keep your car running efficiently and well over the long-term. Dirt builds up over time and can cause corrosion and decrease the life of an engine. Oil and filter changes remove particles to keep engines at peak condition. A well-lubricated engine can improve gas mileage and reduce fuel consumption.

When should I come in for an oil change?

Most vehicles need to have their oil changed every 6 months or 7,500 miles and you are unlikely to go wrong following this schedule. However it can vary quite a bit depending on your vehicle’s make, model and year. Synthetic oils also last longer than synthetic blends. Driving style also matters. Lots of short trips are harder on your engine than fewer longer trips.
So, Washington DC area commuting may mean you want to change your oil more frequently. The best thing to do is to check the manual for your specific vehicle.  We’ve also written this helpful blog: How Often Should You Change Your Vehicle’s Oil.

What else should I know about oil changes?

Motor oil reduces the friction and wear on the moving parts in your internal combustion engine. Synthetic oil is a man-made lubricant made with highly refined crude oil (taken from deep underground, the same as conventional or traditional oil). They both serve the same purpose, have different pros and cons, and are chemically different in their end product state. Here’s a whole article on what kind of oil should you use. If you don’t have time for that, the quick take is that synthetic is better for your engine and lasts longer, but it’s more expensive.
